Running for the Gate

Nothing like arriving at your gate to find that it says Seattle. What happened to my Austin flight?? Check mobile boarding pass. Gate change doh! 5 minutes till the gate closes. Ahhhhh! I'm at Newark Airport where there are three concourses for United in terminal C. And of course wrong gate is at the very tippy end of concourse 1 while my new gate is at the very tippy end of concourse 2. Run!! Except I don't run. I'm not a runner. I have flat feet and it hurts like hell when I run. So I power walk across the terminals. 4 min. 3 min. 2 min. Ok I'm running. Push a couple of people out of the way. I do say 'excuse me' though. 1 min. 0 min. Get to the gate and it says Austin hooray. But door is closed noooo. -1 min. But then a miracle. Flight delayed 20 min due to inbound crew. Yes!!! I proceed to plop down in a seat in the waiting area out of breath. Triumphant but embarrassed, hoping no one I pushed out of the way is on my flight. This is not the first time I've had a miracle happen at the airport and hopefully it won't be my last. I thank my lucky stars I'm so lucky.
