Subscription Box Review: Love with Food May 2014

I've recently become a big fan of subscription boxes. With a subscription fee, every month you receive a box of goodies. (And usually the value of the goodies is more than the price of the monthly subscription.) There are makeup subscription boxes (Birchbox), travel boxes (Escape monthly), pet boxes (Barkbox), etc. Of course, there are also food boxes! Recently on Gilt City, there was a discount offered for a 6-month subscription to Love with Food so I jumped on it. Their focus is on organic or all-natural snacks. Plus for every box sold, they donate a meal to food banks. Everybody wins yay!

Here is what I got in my first box, the May 2014 box:

The box when it comes out of the mailbox.
It's actually smaller than it looks. It's about 10 in x 6.5 in. It's nice they shrink wrap it.

Open sesame!
The theme of the month was Derby Days. On the inside cover, they remind you how your box contributes to one free meal. Aww warm and fuzzies. Now show me the cookies!

Overall box with goodies

Chips
One Potato Two Potato Sweet Potato Chips: They taste exactly like Terra Chips. However, this company does not have chips for every crazy vegetable like Terra Chips which is ok by me. They have flavors like Naked Sea Salt, Hawaiian BBQ, Sweet Onion, and Cracked Pepper. Sound good to me.

Cookies
J & M Foods Key Lime Cookies: In general, I don't like key lime pie at all. Way too sour and bitter. And yes, I've had the yellow authentic kind. But I do like key lime pie fudge so these cookies will most likely be ok.

Granola
Giddy Up & Go Granola: My mom claimed this and ate it for breakfast. She considers this fancy cereal which cracks me up. I just think of Nature Valley when I think of granola.

Crackers
Tarallino Snack with Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Circular bread sticks yum! They don't have any aroma when you smell them but you can taste it. It's light and crispy. The rest of my family said they couldn't taste anything. Poo.

Tea
Revolution Southern Derby Sample Pack: Wow this is so fitting for the theme! I love trying new teas so I'm  excited to try the flavors - Southern Mint Herbal Tea, Tropical Green Tea, and Honeybush Caramel Herbal Tea.

Salt and Caramels
I put these items in the same picture to save myself from having to take two pictures but I just realized they are both salt-related!
The Spice Lab Hickory Smoked Sea Salt and Italian Black Truffle Salt: At first I thought I received salt and pepper but then my uncle said they were both salt. I went to correct him and realized he was right. Doh. Anyways, the flavors sound interesting. I love truffle-flavored anything so if salt could mimic the flavor I'm all for it. Only problem is I don't cook so not sure when I would use this. And when I eat out, I don't put salt on anything but eggs. Unfortunately, truffle-flavored eggs don't sound that yummy.
Le Caramel Sea Salt Caramels: Very soft caramels and lightly salted. I could taste a hint of sea salt but my family couldn't. It was a nice throwback to the old school caramels. Nowadays sea salt caramels are covered in chocolate and super chewy which is also very tasty. However, this was a nice reminder that there are other textures of caramels out there!

Drink mix
flavrz Drink Mix Tropical Peach: I'm not sure about this. Usually I see powders or mini liquid bottles used to flavor water. This is a much bigger package than I'm used to seeing. Do we really need this much for a bottle of water? I guess we will see.

The details:

If you are interested in subscribing to the box, it's $10-12 a month depending on which plan you choose. You can click my referral link or go to the site directly, https://lovewithfood.com/. If you already subscribe to it, let me know your thoughts!
